Before we had land and a ministry center, we would meet within local churches and teach about the importance of discipleship. Partnering with the local church in Uganda has been an important and incredible way to share about discipleship, and encourage the church in what they are already doing within their communities.
Once students graduate from our discipleship school and program, it’s not the end of our relationship with them. On the off weeks (when we aren’t having class at the center), our teaching staff co-facilitates 3-day discipleship conferences with our former students at their home churches. Often these churches are deep in the village and become a great opportunity to support the church, through teaching and encouragement, as well as offering outreach to the surrounding community.
As a part of each conference and on the last evening, the Jesus film is shown outside on a large projector screen. Once our team leaves, we know those attending already have connections to a local church and have the opportunity to attend Discovery groups (initially) led by our former students, along with those they have discipled who are now leading others.
This has been such a blessing and a way to keep walking alongside those are no longer attending our program. It also allows us to take discipleship out into communities, continue to deepen our relationships with former students as they disciple others, and build up the church in Uganda.
As a partner of Cultivate Discipleship, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of those we serve. Your support will help us host these village conferences and encourage the church.
